Greiner Packaging International is among the leading European packaging manufacturers for the food and nonfood areas. GPI offers product solutions for successful brands and by so doing assures its customers “the unique packaging proposition” advantage. GPI constantly generates new cutting-edge product solutions following its guiding principle “do the innovation”. This is how packaging becomes the decisive success factor for the customer.
Innovation in the service of the environment
Not only innovation, but also sustainability has a major role to play in the packaging industry. Renewable raw materials, CO2 emissions reduction and recycling are among the focal issues in a sustainable economy. GPI is intensively committed to all of these environmental agendas: The company is working full-throttle on the application of alternative raw materials such as R-PET (recycling polyethylene terephthalate) or PLA (poly lactid acid). The processing of sustainable materials is opening up enormous and valuable potentials for the plastics industry. R-PET for example, saves resources and energy in the manufacturing process, and cuts CO2 emissions as a result.
The Packworld in Oberwaltersdorf (Austria) was opened in September 2010 to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the firm. GPI has set a new benchmark for the industry with this unique B2B communication and innovation center and provided an opportunity for people to see and experience its technological strengths.
The three Greiner Packaging International divisions
K Division
The K Division produces cups in plastics-cardboard combinations. These are decorated largely using waterless offset printing techniques. The pre-press stage the company itself developed guarantees the optimal implementation of all customer wishes in this processing. Greiner Packaging has one of the biggest ranges available in Europe with over a hundred different cup types. The remarkably environmentally friendly K3®-E cup is one of the latest innovations from Division K.
Kavo Division
The Kavo Division manufactures products in the injection stretch blow molding, extrusion blow molding, spiral convolute can production and injection molding technologies. The product portfolio ranges from packaging solutions for the toy and pharmaceuticals industries through to special household products. The most important materials in the Kavo areas of activity are PET (polyethylene terephthalate), PP (polypropylene) and PC (polycarbonate). Decoration is by means of screen printing and labeling.
The Assistec Division
Greiner Assistec manufactures products and parts from various plastics and finishes these on an individual basis. Innumerable production technologies and processes are applied here, making possible every imaginable solution. Greiner Assistec customers have access to all the technologies of the entire Greiner Group – worldwide. www.greiner-assistec.com
